Stratton Brook

 

Wood fiber in rivers and streams is a healthy start to food chains, but here severe blockages were causing bank erosion, widening the streambed

August, 2000, two years after Trout Unlimited's corrective action. Sets of large tree trunks have stabilized the erode stream bank.

A total of seventeen debris dams were corrected in Stratton Brook both in the State Park section off Farms Village Road and adjacent town land.

One year later. Some tree limbs were only trimmed back to near edge of stream where they will contribute to building of natural hiding places

Backfilling eroded stream bank with wood debris has made a nice deep pool for adult trout in Stratton Brook
