Fly tying for kids Hands on fly tying instruction for young people ages 8 and up. Young people will be able to tie their own trout fly and take it home! Instructors – Trout Unlimited Connecticut members Location - Housatonic Conference Room, 10am – 4pm.
Trout In The Classroom Forum for school teachers and other educators who want to learn about Trout Unlimited’s successful youth education program. TIC schools raise trout from eggs to fry stage in the classroom and then release their trout in local streams. Current TIC educators and coordinators are encouraged to attend. Introduction to fly fishing - equipment Want to get started or try fly fishing for trout but you don't know where to begin? If you don’t know anything about fly fishing this beginner’s overview will cover what equipment is needed and what is optional, how everything is put together and where to save money in getting started. Presenter - Frank Plona, Project Manager, Trout Unlimited Farmington Valley Location - Thames Conference Room, 12noon – 1pm.
Where to find trout An introduction and review of where to find trout, how they live, how trout behave and how to fish for them successfully. A forum for folks who want to begin fishing and/or improve their angling experience. Presenter – Bill Case, Trout Unlimited Farmington Valley Location – Thames Conference Room, 1pm – 2pm.
Fly fishing knot seminar How to tie your own fly leaders and other important knots and when to use them including how to rig a double fly dropper setup. Presenter - Jerry Bannock, Trout Unlimited Farmington Valley Location - Thames Conference Room, 2pm – 3pm.
Eastern CT brook trout fishing An overview of selected streams in eastern Connecticut where brook trout are still found. Trout Unlimited encourages catch and release recreational fishing. Presenter - Seth Walter, Trout Unlimited Farmington Valley Location - Thames Conference Room, 3pm – 4pm.
