Farmington River Regulations - Public Meetings

We've received the following communication from the CT. DEP, fisheries dept. This is your chance to let your voice be heard and to ask questions. As many of you are aware, Bill Hyatt, addressed our membership at our December meeting. At the meeting Bill laid out 2 proposals (which are attached below) along with the option of no changes. As of this date, the FVTU has not presented it's official opinion. Discussion among the board is slated for our next board meeting on 2/19/08. All members are invited. Please feel free to contact any member of the board with your thoughts. I whole heartily recommend  that all members attend one of these sessions.

Please be aware that the FVTU will be presenting the organization's position on these changes to the DEP via an official paper. You should not be speaking at these sessions on behalf of the organization. By all means you can announce your affiliation with any and all organizations.

The CT. DEP will be holding a series of three informational meetings during late February and early March.  The DEP has been asked to consider making changes to the trout fishing regulations on the Farmington River and seeks input from the public about these possible changes. Changes under consideration include: increases or decreases in the size of catch-and-release areas, possible reduction in length limits and changes in the daily bag limits for trout in some areas. There are several options under consideration. The details of these options will be presented at the meeting.  The public is invited to share their opinions about these changes. Any individual that signs up, prior to the beginning of the meeting, will be given a three-minute period to express their thoughts and opinions.  We seek input from any Farmington River angler and would welcome any ideas regarding possible improvements to this fishery.

 Meetings are scheduled for:
