East Hartford - Glastonbury Magnet School Release Day!

On April 11, 2008, the East Hartford-Glastonbury Magnet School held a Release Day as part of it's Trout In The Classroom program. 44 students and their TIC teachers along with members of FVTU and invited guests, made the 14 mile trip to the Blackledge River in Marlborough CT. With over cast skies, and a slight threat of rain, over 50 Brown Trout fry were released into the river to begin their journey in the wild. We received surprise guests when the CT DEP fisheries personnel showed up to conduct their pre-opening day stocking. Dozens of catchable sized trout were released along with an 8 - 10 lb brood stock rainbow. To say the kids were excited is an understatement. The rain held out long enough for everyone to stay dry while they conducted river observations, aquatic insect studies and finally, the release of their trout. another success for the students and the chapter.
